Time to travel once again up to Door County Wisconsin  ----- I will be participating in the 2 hour quick paint next Sat , July 26th ------I will spend the week previous painting with friends around  Door County ---- Emma and I are hitting the Road bright and early Sunday morning !   
              

This past month has been filled with flowers !  I have been painting them non-stop -----poppies, zinnias, sunflowers , phlox  --it is so wonderful ---- and now the tomatoes in our garden are turning ripe --mmmmmmmm!

Springtime Art Happenings

                                     Thankfully springtime is bursting out all over !
                             Sweet blossom scents and sprouting greens are everywhere!
My recent trip to Dallas , Texas to the Meadows Museum to study , absorb and be thrilled by the brilliant  paintings and drawings of Joaquin Sorolla was tremendous ! I  spent two + days at the museum just being with his work and am grateful for the trip!   Here is a study I drew from his piece-------"The Young Amphibians"  one of my favorite paintings in the show.

This past week I traveled to New Harmony, Indiana, for their First Brush of Spring Plein Air Event .
I thoroughly enjoyed the comraderie of painting with  other  artists at the event , the hardwork -----I produced 7 new paintings in three days ----- the wonderful, artful  town and it's people and the ending show , sale, and competiton.  I was awarded an honorable mention for my painting, "Where the Eagle Lands" , and sold three paintings at the sale . Great event!

Summertime Adventures

                                                           

                     "Dream Clouds"  18 x 18  oil  Quick Paint Door County 2013                                                              Just back from Door County and a week long adventure in painting ----traveled with my artist friend Gloria Gaus ----participated in the Door County Plein air  2 hour ---open Quick Paint on Sat, July 27th ----painted evening light  on the stunning rocky shore at Gil's Rock with Billyo, Jan Trager, Gloria Gaus, Larry Moore, Hai-ou Hou , Jason Sacran & Stuart Fullerton --------worth the ten hour travel in itself !  Thanks for including us !

 Highlights along the way ----painting on the shore in the quaint town of ephraim , 30 mile an hour sideways rain chasing us out of our covered pavilion in Sister Bay , painting  the "old" cherry orchard on Hwy  "F" in the afternoon light , the beautiful early and late light on Kangaroo Lake ----the show and reception at Peninsula School of Art-----talking about art , doing art , admiring and soaking up art!
                                                           

          What beautiful weather we're having!!!
          Summer at it's best here in Missouri!

Looking forward to another trip up to Door County Wisconsin----around the 20th of July -----and on Saturday , July 27th I will participate once again in the Quick Paint Competition as part of the Door County Plein Air Event, in Fish Creek -----

In the meantime I have been  painting most days -----figure one day -----sunset with cows another -----our beautiful phlox are blooming ----our vegetable garden is producing -----tomatoes ripening on the vine----- soon to be a painting!

Spring News

          Augusta Plein air Event 
        April 17th through the 27th
